Call for Entries
The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design, together with Metropolitan Arts Press, invites entries for “The American Architecture Awards” – an Exhibition and Distinguished Buildings Awards Program for 2008.
“The American Architecture Awards” gives an important overview of the current direction of today’s commercial, corporate, institutional, and residential work in the United States to the real estate, banking, business, and corporate community, as well as to the press and general public.
“The American Architecture” Exhibition and Distinguished Building Awards Program is dedicated to the recognition of excellence in architecture in the United States. We look forward to honoring the broad range of quality projects submitted.
ELIGIBILITY
All Submissions must be the work of American architects and architectural firms either working nationally or internationally for projects both in the U.S. and abroad. International architecture firms headquartered outside the United States are eligible for projects built or to be built in the U.S. with a U.S. associate architect or if the international firm is registered in the U.S.
CRITERIA
The criteria for submissions includes any commercial, corporate, institutional, or residential building type, built or unbuilt in the U.S. or abroad, designed since January 1, 2006. Unbuilt projects are eligible only when a client is named. Building types and categories are: corporate headquarters and office facilities, retail, hospitality, institutional, health care, government, transportation, educational, and residential and interiors of any kind, including renovations and restorations, landscape architecture, and urban planning projects. Built or to be built. Previously awarded buildings by the Museum are not eligible.
JURIED EXHIBITION/AWARDS
A jury of recognized design and business professionals, educators, and critics will review the submissions and select winning projects for awards. Selected recipients will be required to prepare photographic panels or framed original drawings and models for the Exhibition. No public announcement of any awards can be made prior to the official announcement to the press and public by the Museum.
SUBMISSION FORMAT

Mailed submission requirements include the following:
the enclosed application form fully completed; fee;
and one-page description (letter-format). On CD-ROM,
three (3) to five (5) photographs, site plans, floor
plans, sections, and elevations.
All images must be 300 dpi in JPEG and TIFF formats and no larger than 4-6 MB. Include a copy of the project description in MicroSoft Word.
Submission fee per project: $300.00
DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION
